This craft is very simple, and oh so pretty! I found this craft for us to do at a little camping trip with one of our homeschool groups a couple years back. I’d say it’s the perfect use for all of those leaves your kids keep collecting and bringing into your home to show you (…or is my 7-year old the only one who does this?!) This beautiful leaf lantern craft for kids will preserve the beauty and vibrancy of those special leaves for years to come!

Steps to make beautiful leaf lantern craft:
***You will need an adult to supervise/help run this craft as it requires using an iron!
The first step is to have your kids collect their favorite leaves! Tell them to find a variety of colors, shapes and sizes. This is usually one of the most favorite parts of the craft – especially for the littles!
You can turn on your iron to a medium setting at this point.
Cut off a large piece of wax paper (anywhere between 28-34 inches), folding it in half to make a crease and then opening it back up again.
Have your kiddos arrange the leaves however they like on one side of the wax paper.
Fold over the other side of the wax paper onto the side with the arranged leaves. It doesn’t need to line up perfectly because you can always trim it down later.
Kids love to watch this part! To fuse the wax paper together, have an adult quickly run the iron over top a few times. Flip over and do the same to the other side. Try to get out as many air bubbles as you can!
Next you can trim up your paper to the desired height and width that you like.
Roll up your paper and tape it together where the edges come together to form a lantern shape.
Put your beautiful leaf lanterns on display!
Enjoy the warm glow of your festive leaf lanterns! Simply place a flameless tea candle underneath your lantern and put your lantern over top. We set ours on our dining room table near some tiny pumpkins for a beautiful fall display. I’m sure kids would be very proud to share them on a Thanksgiving dinner table!
